Return of Finn??!

Well, well, well.  Look who came crawling back everybody.  The guy who was too good for Surgery in the Dark.  Mister Finn "I'm too good for the project" Stefen.  The very same Finn "I'm too good for the project" Stefen that walked out on the project just a few months ago!

HAH!!  Who does he think he is?  Pfft!!  Thinks he can just waltz back into the project like it ain't no thang!  Unbelievable!  The nerve!  Where does he get off??!

...Welcome aboard, I look forward to doing project stuff.

I have nothing else to update you guys on, but uhhhhhh...
..The glove shack is a little old place where we can get together.

Return of Finn

I've been busy recently: taking some well deserved time off after a long and arduous production, tossing around some film ideas with a couple colleagues, and even brainstorming a few projects of my own. This was going as swimmingly as always, but after a few months, I began to wonder what Steve, the Glove, and the other remains of Itchiban Film were doing now. And let me tell you, I received the shock of a lifetime: Surgery in the Dark was a reality again.

Back in June when we were wrapping up production, I was trying my hardest to meet the Glove's strict demands regarding the quality of the film, while also attempting to complete it on time. Near the end, under immense stress, and unable to contact anyone on the creative board, I made a number of unguided creative decisions. They turned out to be quite unlike the intentions of the Glove. So, needless to say, there were some unpleasant words exchanged, and I cleaned out my desk and took off, leaving my partially completed work for someone with more patience to finish. In retrospect, I should have stuck it out regardless of my personal desires, for I feel what happened next was, at least partially, my fault.

Following my departure, due to pressure from Steve, the Glove hastily combined what I had completed along with a few rough cuts of his own to form the "completed film". This so-called "film" was then screened to a limited audience. It was subsequently greeted by an overwhelmingly negative reception from the test audience. The Glove frantically attempted to restore the movie to its intended glory. But, at the end of July, far exceeding budgetary and temporal constraints, Steve dropped support for the project, and the Glove spiraled into despondent isolation. He declared the project a failure, and asserted the fact to the world that Surgery in the Dark, along with all future projects from Itchiban Film, would never see the light of day. Everyone, including myself thought that all hope was lost, and our months of filming and hours dedicated to the project were all for naught. At this point I chose to cut my losses, and move on with my life.

Apparently a few weeks after this, Steve, desperate for money, picked the project back up, and told the Glove that they would premiere it as soon as possible. The Glove was, however, convinced the project was a failure, and refused to support Steve in his DVD production and marketing. Steve worked frantically over the next month and a half, finishing up the special features and getting the DVD ready to ship. But there was still no sign of the Glove.

This all changed come late September. The Glove gave me a call, and told me of a dream he had had the night before. He told me about how he had faith in the project again, and about how he had been wrong all along. He implored me to return to his side to aid him in the finalization of the project for its eventual release this winter. I accepted, and began doing what was left to do. I started with designing a possible DVD cover. So, officially being a part of Itchiban Film once again, I now bring you the possible face of Surgery in the Dark:

Return of The Glove

Hi everybody.  I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.  About the movie and other stuff.  And I've finally decided that I can't turn my back on Surgery in the Dark.  Allow me to explain why I started to hate it in the first place and why I now accept its existence.

First of all, let me be the first (and so far only) member of the crew or cast to admit that the movie was horrendously made.  There was no sense of organization whatsoever, we filmed it on a shoestring budget (hence the shitty camera and tapes we had to use), we wasted all of the tapes very early on (along with the rest of money, little as there was), and I had no access to the editing software during the first 90% of the shooting, which made it very difficult to realize that we had fucked up asses upon loads of shots, either by filming them wrong or neglecting to film them entirely.  I could also extend that last point to say that it was our lack of a real studio in general that hurt the production the most.  Steve can talk all he wants about "Itchiban Film" but I'm sorry Steve, it doesn't fucking exist.

But you know what, I retract that last statement.  Having a real studio wouldn't have saved the production.  The real problem was the god damned cast and the god damned crew.  Let's take my cinematographer for instance.  You would not believe how many fucking shots that dipshot fucked up.  Like holy shit.  It's unbelievable.  Why, oh jesus god WHY did I fucking trust Eric with the camera?!  Sometimes he claimed he had filmed something but when I looked back at the footage, there would be an inexplicable gap there.  Jesus christ, Eric.  He would fuck up seemingly unfuckupable shots of which we had only done one take.  This pretty much made the movie impossible to edit.  We had no tapes left and my cast were very unwilling to come back for reshoots, so I was stuck with a movie that lacked continuity or appeared to jump from one random shot to another.  But it wasn't only Eric's fault (though I do blame him the most).  The rest of my cast were, as I implied earlier, reluctant to film anything more than once.  But mostly Joe.  And by that I mean he NEVER SHOWED UP TO FILM.  I mean fuck, who signs up for a movie that they fucking know they don't have time to make?!?!  Fuck off Joe.  Fuck off and die.

But of course, I wasn't exactly the best director ever.  I had little idea of what I wanted to do every day, and I ended up just winging everything and forgetting to do stuff and unwittingly changing things from the script.  Most of my time on set was spent fucking around and yelling at Eric for sucking.  So even though Finn and I were the only people that actually gave a shit about the movie, we still pretty much just fucked around and didn't actually pay much attention or care to the shit we did on set.  We talked as much during shooting as the rest of them, and sometimes Finn actually gave more consideration to the movie than I did when it seemed like we were fucking some shit up.  And fuck knows we fucked up a lot of shit.

But I tried, oh I tried, to save the movie.  I slaved over trying to fix Surgery in the Dark via editing.  There were many sleepless nights spent trying to painstakingly remove the sounds of people's voices from shots, struggling to create some sort of semblance of continuity, and straight up pulling shit out of my ass just to salvage an at least passable product.  Not to mention I was rushing the hell out of it in a feeble attempt to get the movie out "on time".  I succeeded in "releasing" it "on time" but in doing so, I failed the movie.  All the test audiences said it was a piece of rushed shit, and they were right.  So I went back into the "studio" to re-edit it.  This took a few months.  But before I ever finished re-editing, I quit due to all of the reasons listed above.  The movie was a complete failure and a colossal waste of everything.

But then one night, I had this dream.  In this dream, I was a little kid playing in the woods by my house.  This was something I had done many times as a child.  I would climb the tree we nailed boards to in effort to make a "staircase", sit in our failed treehouse, and poke sticks into the dirt.  Those were good times.  But then it started raining in my dream.  This turned all of the dirt into some muddy shit.  I was like "Fuckin' mud all over the place!! This is bullshit!!"  When it finally stopped raining though, I noticed something.  I had aged since the rain began.  I was no longer a dirty boy.  I was a muddy man.  And it was time to go back.  After all, who wants to be muddy?  I had to go back and change clothes and shit.  But for some reason, a strange premonition came over me.  I couldn't go back.  I had to stay, muddy or not.  It was my defiant statement.  I couldn't go back.  Not then.  Too much had happened since I went into those woods as a boy.

Then I woke up.  The first thing I did upon waking was boot up Adobe Premiere.  I took a good look at my movie and I decided I had to finish it.  It took me no more than a week to get the re-edited copy finished and sent to Steve, who had been working on the DVD.  But you know something, guys?  I don't think Steve actually gave two damns which version of the movie he would have to put on the DVD.  I'm beginning to think Steve only wants to make a god damned profit.  That's the only explanation I can think of for his having defended the original cut of the movie.  So congrats, Steve, you're not as cool as I thought.

At the end of the day, this is what Surgery in the Dark really boils down to:  The movie I conceived and wrote was brilliant, the movie I directed was atrocious, and the movie I edited was fantastic.  Just don't be too critical of the production values.  Try to look beneath the surface and see it for what it really is, not as the money-draining pile of fail sauce it also kind of is.

It's better to have gloved and lost than never to have gloved at all.

Tentative release date and other shit

Hey, Steve here. I've finally worked out a tentative date for a possible DVD release. Well, it's not so much a date as it is a general time period. That time period would be the Thanksgivingish one. That might sound like a long time from now, but fuck you. Ever tried to make a DVD with all sorts of special features and commentary tracks and whatever else and shit? Didn't think so. But sorry about the "fuck you" thing. I don't mean to abuse the few fans this movie has. Speaking of "few fans", keep telling your friends about the movie. It needs more fans.

As for the DVD, the special features are coming along pretty well. All you SitD diehards are really gonna love them. If you've ever wondered what The Glove is like on set, well now you'll know. By the way, I think The Glove might be coming around to doing interviews and commentaries for the DVD.

Finn, if you're reading this, you need to send me The Song.

Also, I'm still looking for talented cover art designers to design the cover art. Contact me @ ItchibanFilm@gmail.com plz.

So without further ado, DONATE to Itchiban Film. There's a little button on the top right of the page. WE NEED YOUR HELP. We don't have any damn money.

Update on Stuff. Special Features.

Hey, it's Steve again. Well, I've been working on special features and such for a while now and I'm thinking it's going pretty damn well. Here's what I've got so far:
  • Auditions footage from Eric, Joe, and Chops/Hodsdon
  • The Writing of Surgery in the Dark featuring The Glove and Finn
  • Approximately 220 minutes of on-the-set footage of the making of Surgery in the Dark
It's lookin really pretty thus far. I also want to compile a brief documentary about the movie and the actors and directors and all that sort of shit. The Glove says he doesn't want to do any interviews or anything for it, but he'll do it. I know The Glove. But it's probably gonna be a long ass time before I can get Joe or Finn to do interview shit. I think Finn's busy or something. We'll see what happens.

And by the way, Surgery in the Dark is now on Fagbook. Become a fan of us. There's like a thing on the bottom of the page of the blog, so check it out.

Donate you ass.

DVD Design, Need Help With

Hey man, it's Steve again. The DVD is coming along real well, but here's the deal. I need someone who is good at designing shit to design me some shit. Surgery in the Dark has no face. If anyone wants to try to design the DVD cover art and some other shit, let me know. Just email me @ ItchibanFilm@gmail.com for further details if you're interested. I'll tell you kind of what I want it to look like but I trust all the artists out there, so I'll probably let you do your own thing. I won't pay you but you'll get your name on the DVD. That's pretty fuckin cool, right? Come on niggaz, it's the artwork THEY didn't WANT you to MAKE.

Yeah, we still need your donations by the way.

Look out for a DVD real soon

Hey, it's Steve. Don't listen to The Glove. No artist likes their own work. Take it from me, I've been connected with this project since day two. Surgery in the Dark will kick your ass. The best part is there's nothing like it out there. It's real underground like that. Don't expect any fluffy bullshit though. If you're into that shit, watch a different movie and read a different blog. If you're still with me, I got good news. I, Steve Graham, will be releasing the DVD of the movie, along with asses upon loads of special bonus materials. I just don't know when, you know? I know The Glove said it would be out back in June, but I don't know man, just check the blog now and then, I'll let you know what's up. And hey, you know what would definitely help the DVD come out quicker? Donating.

Glove will tear us apart.

Forget that last post

Only some of that shit is true now. While it's true that Itchiban Film is out of business (ran out of money), apparently Steve is insisting on holding a premiere this week and he feels strongly about the future of Surgery in the Dark. I still don't give a shit though because the movie is an atrocity. It's like some kind of aborted shitty money-draining time-wasting abomination of a shitfest. I've actually been trting to convince Steve to burn the movie and all evidence of its existence but I guess he has the rights to it or some shit. So all I ask is that please for shit's sake, NEVER WATCH IT. I want to just leave SitD behind me and hopefully I'll get a chance to do a better movie one day. But what the hell do I know, Steve seems to love the movie. Uggggh, fuck. Why did I make this piece of shit.

Glove stinks

Never mind everything I said previously in this blog

No one's ever going to get to see the movie, it will never be in circulation, and the movie was a colossal waste of time and money on the part of everyone and everything that had anything to do with it, but mostly me. There will be no Picnic in a Graveyard nor any other as of yet untitled projects. There won't be any anythings ever. Itchiban Film is essentially out of business. Don't bother to donate anymore. Don't bother to check the blog again. Forget that Surgery in the Dark ever existed. Take "THEY" now to mean the very forces of nature and time itself not WANTING you to SEE the movie or any other future movies. Kids at home, take note, you're better off just giving up now. Give up while there's still time. Don't be like your old friend The Glove. Your hopes and dreams are a lie. Real people don't catch a break in this world. It's all bullshit. I'm no longer going on a promotional trip across America or anywhere. None of the people besides myself that worked on Surgery in the Dark care that it was made anymore. Not even Steve. Even I don't give a shit. And wait, who the hell am I talking to, no one actually reads this blog or cares about seeing the movie. Why am I making this post.

I don't believe in glove. I never have. I never will.

Final Trailer

As the title of this post explies, I bring to you the final trailer. And I must say, it's pretty dank. The dankest trailer. It's been a while since the last trailer and what with the movie being done and all I figured the time was ripe for teasing. Cuz damn, when the movie will ever be in circulation, I don't know. Probably soon though as Steve tells me. Apparently he has cut a deal with some dudes for a limited theatrical release or some shit. Steve never explains shit in detail. Steve and I have been trucking along at a high rate of speed with shit for the past few weeks. And we do it all for you cuz we're great people.

Well uh hey let me know what you think of the trailer eh ?

I'm just a glove machine. And I don't work for nobody but you.

Keep on donating

Oh right, I have a blog

Well here I am everyone. The Glove returns, and he comes bearing much news.

First off, remember that film festival into which I entered SitD? Turns out Culture Explored is made up solely of asshats and fag bags cuz they didn't accept the movie. I told you, man...it's the movie THEY didn't WANT you to SEE. Whatever, that wasn't the kind of exposure I wanted SitD to have anyways.

Second, most of the test screening audiences fedback us that the movie seemed "rushed". I always listen to criticism so I decided to go do some revamping. I cut some scenes and tightened everything up a little, so the cut you'll all get to see is a cut of most impeccable editude. I'd rather do it right than to have done it when I said I was supposed to do it.

Speaking of you getting to see things, I still don't know when or how you'll do that. No distrubutor will touch it it seems.... Tellin ya man, THEY don't WANT you to SEE it, but I'll be damned if they get their way. I plan to personally campaign across America to spread the word of Surgery in the Dark. It may not be the most efficient way to do whatever I'm trying to do but, well you know. I owe it to America to share the majesty of Surgery in the Dark.

What the world needs now is glove...sweet glove.

Oh, and if anyone feels it in their heart, my campaign across America could use some funding. Also comments are appreciated. Just not as much as money.

It's dooooone

Truly sorry for my lack of updating this month, I've just been too busy to sit on my computer and post stuff lately. But you're gonna love this. Surgery in the Dark is now a finished, completed package, and what a pretty little package it is. Ohhhhh...the prettiest pacakge. I shipped it today in fact. Now I just sit back and watch as a distributor picks it up. To be truthful, I'm not sure how this whole process works. We sent Surgery in the Dark in to some film festivals including this one, so I guess I'll just hear back from them when they accept it? And as far as gettingg the film in theaters and on video, I don't know. I don't know, man, if anyone has any details on the movie distribution process, let me know.

I did test screen the movie yesterday. And fuck you, that counts as done. I made the June deadline, bitches. You didn't think The Glove was gonna do it, did you. You're all gonna have to wait a while to see, but it's fucking DONE. I finished my first motion picture. HELLYEAH. I am working on some new projects now, so before you know it, you'll be seeing Surgery in the Dark, Picnic in a Graveyard, and my other as of yet untitled project. You'll also soon be hearing new music me. Also, Hodsdon has a new metal Cd coming out, you're gonna love his metal. Anyways, check you later, you sons of bitches. I've got shit to do. Your comments are needeed.

Glove conquers all

We still need money.

Yeah so I guess we might be done by the end of the month

So it turns out editing takes longer than I thought, but I'm pretty much done at this point. Finn hasn't really been doing much of anything lately, so I've been forced to do asses upon loads of editing myself. Finn is a terrible person to work with. Finn doesn't seem to give a shit about the movie anymore. What a prick. You've put all that work into this already, you dipshit, why just go off and do your stupid other shit now? Fuck.

Well, in other news I've also begun work on what will be my second production. It's called Picnic in a Graveyard. I'm currently working on the soundtrack for it. This next production will have greater emphasis on the music. I'm trying to branch out a little bit from only doing films. I mean, why not explore all of my talents?

Speaking of soundtracks, that's one of the few things I still have to do for SitD. It's tough to decide what music that already exists was made with the same mindset behind it as your film. Nothing seems to go perfectly enough with SitD. This is another reason as to why my next film will consist entirely of original music.

So tomorrow was the intended premiere, but, well, Finn fucked it up, I can't work at the pace of two men, give me a break.

Hold the line.
Glove isn't always on time.

As usual, PLEASE consider donating to our cause over here at Itchiban Film. Whether or not films like Surgery in the Dark or Picnic in a Graveyard are ever seen depends on you. THANK YOU

Post-Production Update

Hello, all!

It's been a while since we've had an update. We've been very busy over here at Itchiban Film HQ. The film is in the mid-to-late stages of the editing process. It's nice to see all the pieces fall into place, and a final, polished, feel fall over this epic wonder of a project. Can't chit-chat too much, however. I should get back to the proverbial 'cutting room' and keep on trucking.

We're still on track for our late June release date. This time next week, you should all be enjoying the wonderful world of Surgery in the Dark. The Glove and I can't wait to share it with all of you out there.

Goodbye, all!

EDIT: We still really need your help. PLEASE, donate as much as you feel is necessary. We really appreciate your contributions!!!

Itchiban Film needs your help!!!

Well Finn and I are truckin right along with this editing, but there's still a lot of footage to sift through. Perhaps we shouldn't have kept the camera on for so much of the duration of shooting. Ah well, we'll be able to sift through all the excess footage soon enough.

In the meantime, there is another point I would like to bring up. I mentioned this in my last post in a non-fully serious manner, but I'm afraid we've caused Itchiban Film a little trouble in spending so much money. At this rate, we might have to put an early stop to everything and possibly never be able to get Surgery in the Dark in circulation. I humbly plead for your donations to our little production company in hopes that we will be able to finish Surgery in the Dark. Every little bit is supremely appreciated. Steve and I also hope to continue making films after this. I beg all of you who love real independent filmmaking to open your pocket books for Itchiban Film. The future of underground film is in your hands. Please click the DONATE button below this post. Don't let THEM prevent you from seeing films that THEY don't WANT you to SEE!!!

I'd do anything for glove

Surgery deadline pushed back a bit. My apologies.

We still have quite a lot to edit over here. It takes a long time to edit over 5 months worth of shooting, you know. I'll admit that Finn and I haven't been working very hard this past week (we've been kind of "preoccupied" so to speak), but I promise we'll pull our shit together as of this blog post. Unfortunately, it has been brought to my attention that my initial projected date for the movie's completion is in two days. So I'm pushing back that date a little bit. Hopefully there will be no further delay, but yeah...it's been a crazy week. I'm actually having a little trouble concentrating right now, I've got a little bit of a headache...

Uhhm...we also seem to have gone a bit over budget somewhere along the road...I'm not sure when or how, but Steve is a little upset...Soooo....the proverbial lines are now open for those wishing to make a pledge to the proverbial Surgery in the Dark Foundation....

But don't worry too much, The Glove is still going to get this picture on screens before July. I won't let you down, you can count on The Glove. I haven't let you guys down yet, I'm not about to start.

Ugh, my head....

Too fast...Too fast for glove

EDIT: Surgery in the Dark Foundation!!!

What a weekend...

I picked just the right time to come back. The boys and I had a great weekend--Hodsdon included. He's not all that bad of a guy when you get to know him. We laughed off our differences and we're the best of chums now.

But in more movie-relevant news...

I finished the trailer! And I'm presenting it to you, right here, on the blog.

Your comments are appreciated.

WE DID IT ! ! !

That's a done!!! Shooting is officially over!!! We got it all, the sunset, the dialogue, the EVERYTHING. My first film is ready to be edited and sold. Fuck yeah. Time to celebrate with the boys. Thanks to all of those who have supported us through it all, especially my boy Danger. THEY would have kept you from SEEing this movie if it weren't for all of you guys.

But to be honest, that's not even the best part. Something magical happened on set today. So there Eric, Hodsdon, and I were, about to reshoot a key scene, when out of nowhere, my Finn came from the woods. Finn came back to me. And you know what...I'm ashamed of myself for ever thinking I could replace him. Hodsdon can't act... And I'll be damned if I ever forget how deep your talent goes again, Finn. Hodsdon doesn't even hold a candle.

So there we were, reunited at last. Eric, Finn, and I (fuck you Hodsdon) went off to film a beautiful sunset. Then we just sat down and watched it together 'til it got dark. Then Joe even stopped by, I guess he's done with one of his stupid bullshit projects. Time to party it up. No hard feelings.

How deep is your glove

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Just one day left!

Everything went very well today. Alas, we still didn't shoot that damn sunset. But at this point, I'm worried about nothing. We're so close to being finished that I can almost taste it. And its almost taste is very sweet indeed. Nobody thought I could do it, but look at me now motherfuckers. Look at me now. I never could have done this without Steve Graham. Steve, you really got this motion picture in motion, and I can't thank you enough. Also, Hodsdon, I feel like I need to mention you too. You're really the one responsible for the movie coming together during this past week. If it hadn't been for you, I'm afraid Surgery in the Dark would have found itself in development hell for a while, possibly never to return. Joe and a certain other somebody have caused me nothing but grief and sorrow however. I hope the two of you jump off ten cliffs together.

I'm glad everybody enjoyed the trailer as well. More to come.

I'll wait 'til your glove comes down

So without further delay, the trailer THEY didn't WANT you to SEE!!! Also check it out at our youtube channel: Itchiban Film.

TRAILER!!!

Also, we're set to shoot again tomorrow and maybe Wednesday. That shoud finally wrap up the production phase of the production.

Making glove out of nothing at all

EDIT: Embedded

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Well, I suppose this is good news

Sorry for not posting yesterday, but it was shabbos, so Steve didn't let us shoot anything, so there wasn't much to post. However, yesterday was one of the best days of my life. Hodsdon and I spent the whole day hanging out together. We played Star Control II, he serenaded me with his guitar playing, we went to the movies, we worked on the trailer, then we went out clubbing uptown at The Seal. Hodsdon is really a wonderful man, Finn. Much more wonderful than you ever were.

Today, though, was a success in some ways, but I'm still concerned about my movie. We did shoot, but clouds ruined my sunset once again so we only got one scene done. Even so, it was a great shoot because Hodsdon did a terrific job. Blew me away. Even without prior acting experience Hodsdon has effectively made me forget about Finn entirely.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But Glove, you didn't get the sunset, doesn't that mean you blew it?" Well, I thought so, but Steve Graham decided he would give me another chance. Steve is such a great guy. He's paying for additional shoots out of his own pocket. What a great guy. However this does make me a little nervous to still get everything done soon. Surely Steve won't just tolerate infinite amounts of my shit.

But wait, there's more. Today I also realized while watching over old footage that we're going to need to redo some scenes. This is very disheartening. This means I'm going to have to get Joe again. Sigh... Why does this have to be so hard? Why can't an indie filmmaker get a break? I guess that's why my film has much more integrity than Hollywood schlock. Those Hollywood directors just get everything handed to them on a silver god damn platter.

Joe, if you're reading this, where the fuck are you, you're ruining my movie with your bullshit.

Also, my trailer is almost done.

Glove will find a way

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Well, looks like we got ourselves a moive againn

Great news eveyrone, the audition was a success. Surgery in thedark has a new leading actor. his name is MAtt Hodsdon

This is fhis first accting gig but he's really got that special something, like Finn had, but no finn s a jerk. Hodsdon is a real professional and doesm't run of set cryin every time someone calls him out. god Damn it Finn how could you do this to me, I thought we had something

Hodsdon is also a guitar player, damn he's really good at it, check this out:
myspace.com/matthodsdon

Finn doesn't play any instriumets, he's also kind of fat. Hodsdon has a nice physique.

Turns out Joe is off in whoe the hell knows where filming some other shit AGAIN. Tell you what I don't care, we can shoot the group shot without him, hell, we'll cut him out of the movie altogehter. Hotshot actor, he wasn't right for Surgery in thre Dark anyway.

Hodsdon could outcat both of them with his chops tied behind his back. Well, Eric i guess it's just yopu me n Hodsdon, old buddy. Here's to you . cheers

This one goesout to the one I glove...

jackasses...

...the lot of them.

posting from an undisclosed location atm. no time to capitalize or spell check

wanna know what really happened? i'll tell you. we were on set, right, and i was on a roll, really getting some nice shots in. then all of a sudden, i'm doing my thing, and the glove an joe flip out on me. i mean, i was just trying to stay in character while they were holding their unlrelated palaver.

least they could do was show me a little respect. i mean, i'm finn steffen. i did seven hours of ketchup for god's sake. i mean, i did seven seconds of salt my sophomore year of film school. i'm practically a living legend. damn.

this really steams my beans.

and then the glove thinks he can cut the trailer in my stead? no way in hell thats happening. he couldnt cut his way out of a paper bag if he had scissors. i've got my eee pc with me, and i'll cut the trailer from right here.

trailer in a few days. i've only got 512mb ram on this thing.

gotta go b4 they track me

p.s. eric no hhard feeling man

I don't believe this...

Shooting was scheduled to be completely finished by the end of this weekend. Everything was going fine; we had everyone on set, we were to get a beautiful sunset, and we only had about 2 scenes left to film. But out of fucking nowhere, Finn goes and flips out over nothing and just walks right off the set. We were unable to convince him to come back and now we're unsure of where he even is, that bastard went AWOL on me. I don't know what the hell to do now. We'll never find someone with Finn's talent on such short notice. Not only that, but that fucker Joe is swamped with other projects for the next week or so. Steve is not happy about this, he tells me I'm going to have to pull some strings here or I'm fucked.

Sigh...

I guess this is just the price one must pay for trying to make a film like this.. SitD is the film they didn't want you to see. Something real, and integritous, and truly challenging to the sensibilities. Maybe fate doesn't allow for some things to be seen, I guess the world isn't ready for Surgery in the Dark....

I should never have let Finn hold responsibility over developing that trailer. I guess I'm going to have to do that myself too. You just can't trust anyone in this business. They'll stab you in the back the first chance they get. I probably should have known Finn would do something like this though. Maybe this is partially my own fault. I never should have let Finn work me over with his charm. I should have paid closer notice to all of these signs that he was an unstable jackass.

However, in spite of everything, I'm not going to give up this easily. I'm going to hold emergency auditions first thing tomorrow for someone to replace Finn. I'm going to develop a trailer myself. I guess all of this has taught a valuable lesson: I never needed Finn to begin with, he's only been holding me back.

The shoot didn't go so well...

Joe couldn't make it (again...), the weather was lousy, and wardrobe somehow messed up with Finn's outfit. It's hard to fire people this late in production, but Steve Graham (executive producer and the man I have to thank for Surgery in the Dark's existence) doesn't tolerate that kind of shit. Steve says we'll have someone new in wardrobe for the rest of the filming. Good news is tomorrow's supposed to be sunny and Joe is fully available. I don't like to repeat myself but tomorrow should be the last shoot. There's only a couple of key scenes left to film.

At this point in the production I feel as though no obstacle will prevent me from getting these final shots captured on film. If I have the ambition and dedication to have gotten my vision this far, then surely I can get this baby finished on time and under budget.

Finn's working on that trailer so that should be ready soon enough.

Production Stills

Hey-o, it's Finn here with some production stills.

I'm in the process of cutting a trailer for you guys with the footage we have so far, and I thought I'd toss a couple production stills your way before I head over to the set so we can wrap up shooting.

So without further ado: production stills!

Now I've got to head over to wardrobe. Toodles.

Tomorrow should be the last shoot

If everything goes well tomorrow, we'll be done shooting tomorrow. I've got an appointment with the heart doctor but that shouldn't take enough time. We plan to reshoot much of the dialogue and shoot the rest of the footage we needed to shoot with Joe. Joe is a little busy with other projects he's got going on. Hopefully nothing unforseeable comes up. Production stills coming soon enough.

Itchiban Film is proud to present...

...its first major production...

Surgery in the Dark
!!!

Sup, this is The Glove. We've been working our asses off these past couple of weeks trying to wrap up shooting. We're looking to get the movie completely finished by the week of June 14th, possibly even sooner. We've got one day of shooting left but Joe's having some schedule conflicts. We'll post some production stills within the next few days. Trailer to be up soon enough after that.
