Well, I suppose this is good news

Sorry for not posting yesterday, but it was shabbos, so Steve didn't let us shoot anything, so there wasn't much to post. However, yesterday was one of the best days of my life. Hodsdon and I spent the whole day hanging out together. We played Star Control II, he serenaded me with his guitar playing, we went to the movies, we worked on the trailer, then we went out clubbing uptown at The Seal. Hodsdon is really a wonderful man, Finn. Much more wonderful than you ever were.

Today, though, was a success in some ways, but I'm still concerned about my movie. We did shoot, but clouds ruined my sunset once again so we only got one scene done. Even so, it was a great shoot because Hodsdon did a terrific job. Blew me away. Even without prior acting experience Hodsdon has effectively made me forget about Finn entirely.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But Glove, you didn't get the sunset, doesn't that mean you blew it?" Well, I thought so, but Steve Graham decided he would give me another chance. Steve is such a great guy. He's paying for additional shoots out of his own pocket. What a great guy. However this does make me a little nervous to still get everything done soon. Surely Steve won't just tolerate infinite amounts of my shit.

But wait, there's more. Today I also realized while watching over old footage that we're going to need to redo some scenes. This is very disheartening. This means I'm going to have to get Joe again. Sigh... Why does this have to be so hard? Why can't an indie filmmaker get a break? I guess that's why my film has much more integrity than Hollywood schlock. Those Hollywood directors just get everything handed to them on a silver god damn platter.

Joe, if you're reading this, where the fuck are you, you're ruining my movie with your bullshit.

Also, my trailer is almost done.

Well, looks like we got ourselves a moive againn

Great news eveyrone, the audition was a success. Surgery in thedark has a new leading actor. his name is MAtt Hodsdon

This is fhis first accting gig but he's really got that special something, like Finn had, but no finn s a jerk. Hodsdon is a real professional and doesm't run of set cryin every time someone calls him out. god Damn it Finn how could you do this to me, I thought we had something

Hodsdon is also a guitar player, damn he's really good at it, check this out:
myspace.com/matthodsdon

Finn doesn't play any instriumets, he's also kind of fat. Hodsdon has a nice physique.

Turns out Joe is off in whoe the hell knows where filming some other shit AGAIN. Tell you what I don't care, we can shoot the group shot without him, hell, we'll cut him out of the movie altogehter. Hotshot actor, he wasn't right for Surgery in thre Dark anyway.

Hodsdon could outcat both of them with his chops tied behind his back. Well, Eric i guess it's just yopu me n Hodsdon, old buddy. Here's to you . cheers

This one goesout to the one I glove...

EDit: Oh my god, that bit about "Respsect" finn? please, like you being taped dump salt on fruit for seven seconds makes you a flimmaker. jackass.

jackasses...

...the lot of them.

posting from an undisclosed location atm. no time to capitalize or spell check

wanna know what really happened? i'll tell you. we were on set, right, and i was on a roll, really getting some nice shots in. then all of a sudden, i'm doing my thing, and the glove an joe flip out on me. i mean, i was just trying to stay in character while they were holding their unlrelated palaver.

least they could do was show me a little respect. i mean, i'm finn steffen. i did seven hours of ketchup for god's sake. i mean, i did seven seconds of salt my sophomore year of film school. i'm practically a living legend. damn.

this really steams my beans.

and then the glove thinks he can cut the trailer in my stead? no way in hell thats happening. he couldnt cut his way out of a paper bag if he had scissors. i've got my eee pc with me, and i'll cut the trailer from right here.

trailer in a few days. i've only got 512mb ram on this thing.

gotta go b4 they track me

p.s. eric no hhard feeling man

I don't believe this...

Shooting was scheduled to be completely finished by the end of this weekend. Everything was going fine; we had everyone on set, we were to get a beautiful sunset, and we only had about 2 scenes left to film. But out of fucking nowhere, Finn goes and flips out over nothing and just walks right off the set. We were unable to convince him to come back and now we're unsure of where he even is, that bastard went AWOL on me. I don't know what the hell to do now. We'll never find someone with Finn's talent on such short notice. Not only that, but that fucker Joe is swamped with other projects for the next week or so. Steve is not happy about this, he tells me I'm going to have to pull some strings here or I'm fucked.

Sigh...

I guess this is just the price one must pay for trying to make a film like this.. SitD is the film they didn't want you to see. Something real, and integritous, and truly challenging to the sensibilities. Maybe fate doesn't allow for some things to be seen, I guess the world isn't ready for Surgery in the Dark....

I should never have let Finn hold responsibility over developing that trailer. I guess I'm going to have to do that myself too. You just can't trust anyone in this business. They'll stab you in the back the first chance they get. I probably should have known Finn would do something like this though. Maybe this is partially my own fault. I never should have let Finn work me over with his charm. I should have paid closer notice to all of these signs that he was an unstable jackass.

However, in spite of everything, I'm not going to give up this easily. I'm going to hold emergency auditions first thing tomorrow for someone to replace Finn. I'm going to develop a trailer myself. I guess all of this has taught a valuable lesson: I never needed Finn to begin with, he's only been holding me back.

The shoot didn't go so well...

Joe couldn't make it (again...), the weather was lousy, and wardrobe somehow messed up with Finn's outfit. It's hard to fire people this late in production, but Steve Graham (executive producer and the man I have to thank for Surgery in the Dark's existence) doesn't tolerate that kind of shit. Steve says we'll have someone new in wardrobe for the rest of the filming. Good news is tomorrow's supposed to be sunny and Joe is fully available. I don't like to repeat myself but tomorrow should be the last shoot. There's only a couple of key scenes left to film.

At this point in the production I feel as though no obstacle will prevent me from getting these final shots captured on film. If I have the ambition and dedication to have gotten my vision this far, then surely I can get this baby finished on time and under budget.

Finn's working on that trailer so that should be ready soon enough.

Production Stills

Hey-o, it's Finn here with some production stills.

I'm in the process of cutting a trailer for you guys with the footage we have so far, and I thought I'd toss a couple production stills your way before I head over to the set so we can wrap up shooting.

So without further ado: production stills!

Now I've got to head over to wardrobe. Toodles.

Tomorrow should be the last shoot

If everything goes well tomorrow, we'll be done shooting tomorrow. I've got an appointment with the heart doctor but that shouldn't take enough time. We plan to reshoot much of the dialogue and shoot the rest of the footage we needed to shoot with Joe. Joe is a little busy with other projects he's got going on. Hopefully nothing unforseeable comes up. Production stills coming soon enough.

Itchiban Film is proud to present...

...its first major production...

Surgery in the Dark
!!!

Sup, this is The Glove. We've been working our asses off these past couple of weeks trying to wrap up shooting. We're looking to get the movie completely finished by the week of June 14th, possibly even sooner. We've got one day of shooting left but Joe's having some schedule conflicts. We'll post some production stills within the next few days. Trailer to be up soon enough after that.
